ELECTRICIAN – southeastern Virginia


Municipality in southeastern Virginia has an immediate opportunity for an industrial electrician. The technician who will succeed in this position is self-directed, with very strong electrical skills as well as mechanical aptitude.  Instrumentation and controls skills are needed but some training is provided if your skills need strengthening and you demonstrate the ability to learn. Electrical skills with some controls experience are a requirement in order to be considered for the training.

Equipment you will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair includes:  

generators, transfer switches, pumps, PLCs, VFDs, and starters.   Computer skills and multi-craft technical experience is essential.


Other desired qualities in candidates:

Team oriented, ability to work with a variety of personalities, and flexibility to changing work priorities.  Travel to local remote sites will be required.  No overnight travel. Mileage is reimbursed.

A newly built heavy manufacturing plant has a career advancing opportunity for a controls expert. Coordinating with electrical and mechanical production and process engineers, you will strengthen and maintain plant processes.  

Use engineering principles, algorithms, and techniques to troubleshoot plant equipment and processes. Hardware/software knowledge is required to develop improvement plans throughout the plant.  Experience required in order to succeed in this position:  Degree OR equivalent experience in process, electrical, or automation engineering.  Rapid understanding of complex control systems.  Proficiency in:  PLCs, In Touch Wonderware, and HMIs.

Above average compensation, excellent benefits.  Position may require support beyond normal business hours/overtime.  Work will take place in all weather conditions, weekends/holidays as needed.
